Many visitors coming to Gdansk for the first time admit they did not realise how rich and beautiful the city really was and what it had in store for tourists.

In 1997, Gdansk celebrated the first millenium of its existence. Tourists will discover here many interesting monuments, museums, recreation centres, and cosy cafes. Gdansk can be reached easily thanks to a new air terminal and a modernised railway station.
The greatest attraction, however, awaits sailors: in the historic district of the port, in the heart of the picturesque Old Town, there is now a new pier that can accommodate up to 80 yachts.

Together with the sea resort of Sopot (-"The Pearl of the Baltic") and the modernist city of Gdynia , Gdansk makes up the huge "Tri-City" inhabited by a million people.
Professional travel agents offer attractive tours of the region. Specially recommended are visits to the Castle of Teutonic Knights in Malbork and one-day boat cruise along the 19th century Ostrodzki Canal with its locks and slipways.
