Picture taken from the satellite Landsat. Ustka. The port city placed at mouth of the Slupia to the Baltic Sea. A seaside resort, recreation centre; fishing port, shipbuilding and food industries (fish processing). It developed from a fishing settlement with the original name of Ujsc. From 1335 Ustka was a port of Slupsk. Therefore it was a member of Hanseatic Union. The small navigability of the Slupia, development of roads and construction of the train line has caused the fast development of Ustka not only as a sea port but also as the rest centre.
The town of Ustka and the harbour are situated at the mouth of the Slupia river. The entrance is formed by two concrete moles of 303 and 420 m. length. It is 40 m. in width and has max depth of 6 m.
The main fairway to the inner port is 28 m. wide. The limiting dimensions for vessels entering the port are: length 58 m., width 11.5 m. and draugth of 4.5 m.
Ustka is a commercial port and fishing harbour visited by numerous yachts.

The first visitors arrived here as early as in the XIXth century. The monumental buildings of the classical rest architecture placed in the residence section are originated from this period. It was worth to see in the port section: the light-house from the XIXth age with the small astronomical observatory and the old port granary from the XVIIIth age, which presently seves as a Baltic Gallery of Art., neogothic church from 1882 with old organs and valuable paintings. The particular charm of this city, the wide beaches, walking promenade, the breakwaters going far towards sea cause that Ustka is a attractive place of rest in summer and winter.
